Conversion from .ai to .svg issue

Hello all,

I'm having problems regarding the conversion from .ai file to .svg file.
The problem, as you can see the attachment files , is an alteration of the image.

I wanted to ask you, certainly more experienced than me , if is there a way to solve this problem.
(I have activated the adobe optimization in the save as dialog.).

Ps:

If I open files created with Adobe does not appear to be no problem, but if the file is opened by an application like Inkscape or our application the image is altered.Conversion from .ai to .svg issue

What happens if you Flatten Transparency first before going to .SVG

Conversion from .ai to .svg issue

thank you for your reply , but nothing change , seems like gradient issue .

OK try Flatten Transparency and then Expand to make the Gradients into Blends

Http request without tabs

I have some code in my app applied to a button that opens a specific website based on what a user enters elsewhere in the app however each time if I click the button once it works fine as in Internet Explorer opens and displays the relevant page however if I then click the button further times pages get opened up in new 'tabs' in explorer rather than opening a new instance of IE altogether. Problem is that my application is a full screen AIR app so only the first instance of IE opens up and appears in front of the application but as I browse back to the app and click the button more times the tabbed pages can't even be seen behind my application

I have put '_blank' in so I can't understand why it is happening. Here's the line:-

click=''{navigateToURL(new URLRequest('http://' + websiteLinkLabel.text),'_blank')}''

Http request without tabs

I now realise it's to do with the app being in air that tabs get brought up rather than new Internet Explorer windows. Seems like there isn't any way to override this like there is with flex apps.

Http request without tabs

Yes! This is not possible.

So the available alternate, that you can use is create a page with javascript, and the page containing javascript should set self as popup, possibly with custom height , width and so!

Of course, this is a work around.

Flash player performance issues in...

I just bought a new HP pavilion laptop with Vista 64 bit Home Premium, 4GB RAM, Core 2 Duo at 2.1GHz, and the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD graphics chipset. Playback of flash videos from Hulu uses a huge portion of the processing power (over 65%), and the frame update rate seems to dropout during whole-frame transitions (when most of the scene is changing - like a closeup on a moving object, or during a pan). When this happens, a visible horizonal ''line'' of distorted image appears briefly on the screen. This occurs frequently during flash video playback (whenever most of the image is moving) and is more pronounced during full screen playback (when the CPU load is also higher).

As other forum posts have noted, to get flash to work in Vista64, you need to install a 32 bit browser (Firefox in my case) and Vista uses the WOW64 dll to emulate a 32 bit machine. I'm sure this is partly why the CPU load is so high - software emulation is not very efficient. It looks like the system can't keep up with fullscreen motion, even with a pretty fast CPU, 800MHz front side bus, and lots of fast Ram.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone else have any experience with the Intel 4500MHD video chipset? I'm suspicious of this lower-end video chipset, though it seems to be used in many different laptops. Is this what we have to put up with until 64bit Flash for windows (and will the 64 bit version fix this issue)?

Thanks

Flash player performance issues in...

I have a 64 bit dell running vista, and the only way that I have found to get control of the power useage was to download player 9 and unload player 10.

This corrects most problems in viewing but not always, there are just some skipping on some movies now.

I hope this helps you.

Flash player performance issues in...

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try this. Which browser (and version) are you using? My question was as much about the performance of Flash player in a 64 bit environment as it was about the video playback hardware performance. I'm sceptical of the shared video memory and throughput performance of the Intel-based 4500HD graphics package in my laptop. I'm worried that it might not be sufficient for full-screen flash video playback, or for large external displays, so I'm trying to explain the poor platback performance that I'm seeing, and hopefully show that it's not the fault of the video HW.

Which video HW do you have in your dell?

Thanks

I m using internet explore 8 and card is the ATI Radeon hd 3670 - 512mb/2 ,?xps studio lap top

There is one more fix which is software, I use vista ultimate but there is also a ultimate patch software that allows the drivers to run as a 32 bit on a 64 bit hard drive.

I have never tried it myself or where to get.

  • Comments on the new layout of the Forum...

    I change the layout of the Forum FAQ a bit. Since the FAQ is read-only for non-moderators I moved the actions down, I don't see the point in a Top participants widget since it is all managed by JC anyway, so I was able to give the discussions the full width allowed by the template:

    http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments/faq

    How do you like it? Is this something to try for the Forum comments forum as well?

    Comments on the new layout of the Forum...

    It would be an improvement for all the forums.

    Comments on the new layout of the Forum...

    Agreed.?They should all be full width like that.

    I would rather the action box stay on the right, but the forum stretch the full width of the browser window. (like many of us do with the local css code) I wouldnt like scrolling to the bottom anytime an action is needed.

    And many forums have placed helpful links to associated forums to the right, which are very convenient.?This design would remove all that.

    I suppose that's true, but only the Action box is really needed, I think. Maybe that could be at the top - there's a lot of wasted space by that massive black box.

    ... and links to associated forms, that's true.

    The FAQ layout would be a great improvement in all forums. The only thing from the right needed at the top is Start a Discussion.

    A certain contraction, and it would be even closer to the fair forums.

    is the author column actually needed on the left? i could live without it.

    Changing the options in the column list is not an option the templates offer. And at this point I am not willing to go the way of overriding the stylesheets provided to hide the column that way.

    Is it not possible to do more or less the same in the threads?

    not with our access levels, we can only modify the Overview pages.

    Does anyone at Adobe have higher levels of access?

    of course they have, but i didn't get a chance to see what options they have that we don't For all i know it could be as simple adjusting the Overview page or as complex as having to modify the code to make the necessary changes.

    OK, I was thinking that beyond a certain point maybe you have to ask Jive to change things. Do you have to ask anyone, or could you go ahead and modify the Overview page at least? Of course, in here the Overview page is very similar to the Discussions page - right down to having an 'Overview' link

    I could but i won't. I keep the moderating to a minimum outside of the Photoshop forums, especially on the forums that already have hosts so ask Jochem. And besides, the stickies take up enough space as it is, making the Overview page single column would likely push the thread listing completely below the fold. That's also why i didn't implement this in the Photoshop forums, it would require way too much vertical scrolling.

    I borrowed the Testing forum to show 2 possible designs. Do you prefer one of those over the current layout of the Forum comments forum?

    http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments/testing

    Hi there

    I tweaked it a bit. Popped in an image with a transparent background. (The white stood out too much against the blue)

    Cheers... Rick

    I prefer the least possible info at the top.?Starting every session by scrolling down is annoying.

    The top one needs tweaking to display properly in IE7:

    If the idea is to have the Subforum and Actions boxes side by side (as opposed to one above the other like the lower one), then that would be a good solution. Is it possible to have both - so there's room for useful links in a third box, say?

    Noel

    I prefer the top version, and both are far better than the present one.

    Inasmuch as this is all I see, it suits me fine.?

    I agree with Ramon.?Id rather use the local css mod to allow full browser width, than to load the top of the forum.?The proposed layout would consume too much?vertical space; meaning little to no posts viewable without scrolling.

    If the Actions %26amp; Notifications box to the right were moved just a tiny bit up, we could have the same wide thread list in this forum as in the FAQ section.

    I should like that. And then the same in the other forums, of course.

    Not an available option. There were some designs based on hand-written HTML that did something similar, but no consensus.

    If anybody wants to give it a go, you are welcome to grab the HTML source from the Forum FAQ, alter whatever you want between the DocumentBodyStart:3ddb15e3-5499-49a7-8c8f-f268fa28a9fa tags in the source and send me the result. If it is HTML and CSS only we could try other designs out.

    Somebody, anybody, please? I know too little.

    Underlined text to extend full column...

    Is there a way to make the underline under text (done using the T in the Character Palette) extend the full width of the text box column rather than just end with the last letter of the line? I want all the underlines to end evenly on the right.

    thanks.

    Underlined text to extend full column...

    You will have to add them manually.

    Underlined text to extend full column...

    hmm, you mean draw the lines manually, and remove the underline setting from the paragraph style? Rats!

    No just add a series of Underline characters to the last line to fill it out.

    Position a right-aligned tab stop where you want the underline to end. Save it as a Paragraph Style.

    Or, set the text as right-aligned, then type a tab character after the text to force it left. The rule will then extend to the right edge of the textframe.

    Space key in Bridge CS4

    I see from a previous post (and notes at http://www.completedigitalphotography.com/?p=550) that the Space key is supposed to put Bridge into full screen mode. What happens on my computer is that Bridge hides the menu bar, but leaves the bridge window as a normal Macintosh window (doesn't even change the window's size). More frustrating is that I can't get out of it--neither pressing the Space key or the Escape key restores the menu, and I have to quit Bridge.

    I would consult the manual, but the downloadable Bridge manual bridge_versioncue_cs4_help.pdf doesn't even mention the Space key or the Menu bar.

    Any thoughts?

    Space key in Bridge CS4

    First thing to try鈥攁s always鈥攊s to reset your Bridge preferences by holding down the Option key as you launch Bridge.

    Space key in Bridge CS4

    Thank you. I thought I had fixed the preferences by deleting com.adobe.bridge3.plist from ~/Library/Preferences, but obviously that didn't do the trick.

    聽 ''.plist'' files are not the preferences.聽

    In retrospect, obviously--I wonder why Adobe puts them in the Preferences folder, in a format used for preferences?

    鈥ecause they're part of and associated with preferences.

    Help me to find out the font type?

    Is it possible to find out the type of the used fonts(like Open type (or) true type) in illustrator cs3 file through programmatically. Kindly share with me the possibilities and solution.

    Thanks...

    Help me to find out the font type?

    Go to the Type menu, and select Find Font. Make sure that the bottom window is displaying ''Document''. Then simply uncheck one of the boxes below (the Types of fonts). When a font disappears from the list, that tells you its type matches the Font Type that you just unchecked.

    Help me to find out the font type?

    Tom,

    This guy wants to do it through a script, not the UI. As far as I know its not available to scripting.

    Thanks Larry!! Is there any free ware tool available to find out the font type information for illustrator file?

    Are you trying to find out the font information from a file you didn't generate? Using the UI as Tom suggests is one way.

    I need to know wheather the illustrator font metadata information is taken from PSFONTS folder or WINDOWS Fonts folder. Kindly advice me.

    Thanks...

    Most likely the Windows Font folder.

    Thanks. After saving the .eps file, I opened that file in text editor i saw some font details like below.

    ?%26lt;rdf:li rdf:parseType=''Resource''%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontName%26gt;Arial-BoldMT%26lt;/stFnt:fontName%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;Arial MT%26lt;/stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFace%26gt;Bold%26lt;/stFnt:fontFace%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontType%26gt;Type 1%26lt;/stFnt:fontType%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:versionString%26gt;001.001%26lt;/stFnt:versionString%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:composite%26gt;False%26lt;/stFnt:composite%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;AB_____.PFB; AB_____.PFM%26lt;/stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;
    ?%26lt;/rdf:li%26gt;

    Using the above details we can get the font type details. Is it correct?

    %26lt;stFnt:fontType%26gt;Type 1%26lt;/stFnt:fontType%26gt;

    This line indicates the font is a Postscript Type 1 font. Do the same with some other fonts that you know are Open Type and True Type and see what this line returns for them.

    But i faced some problem in that. IF the WINDOWS Fonts folder having both open type(arialbd.ttf) and Type 1(AB_____.PFM), the illustrator document font details shown as ''Type 1'' but after saving the metadata showed as ''Open Type''. So kindly advice me why that problem occured.

    Open Type is just a container somewhat like an EPS file. Open Type can be either Postscript flavored (based on a PS font) or TrueType (based on a TT font). If you save a file with the fonts in a Open Type font what does the metadata that you quoted earlier look like. Post the similar string.

    Same file, but i copied the open type font(arialbd.ttf) in the windows folder and then i saved the same file i got the below data.

    ?%26lt;rdf:li rdf:parseType=''Resource''%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontName%26gt;Arial-BoldMT%26lt;/stFnt:fontName%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;Arial%26lt;/stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFace%26gt;Bold%26lt;/stFnt:fontFace%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontType%26gt;Open Type%26lt;/stFnt:fontType%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:versionString%26gt;Version 3.00%26lt;/stFnt:versionString%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:composite%26gt;False%26lt;/stFnt:composite%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;ARIALBD.TTF%26lt;/stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;
    ?%26lt;/rdf:li%26gt;

    Thanks for looking into this.....

    Now i changed the font name with open type i got the below code. But my last post i did 't changed the fontname and font type. But that also shown as open type.?Could you please advice me.

    ?%26lt;rdf:li rdf:parseType=''Resource''%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontName%26gt;ArialNarrow-Bold%26lt;/stFnt:fontName%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;Arial Narrow%26lt;/stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFace%26gt;Bold%26lt;/stFnt:fontFace%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontType%26gt;Open Type%26lt;/stFnt:fontType%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:versionString%26gt;Version 2.37%26lt;/stFnt:versionString%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:composite%26gt;False%26lt;/stFnt:composite%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;ARIALNB.TTF%26lt;/stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;
    %26lt;/rdf:li%26gt;

    Thanks.

    I don't get what you are doing. Are you changing the font in the AI file and then resaving the EPS? Are you making copies of the type and changing the font? What exactly are you doing?

    OK I just made a new AI file and set three strings of type, one each in a Postscript Type 1, True Type and Open Type and saved th efile as an EPS.. When I looked at the in a text editor I found the following

    %26lt;xapTPg:Fonts%26gt;
    ?%26lt;rdf:Bag%26gt;
    %26lt;rdf:li rdf:parseType=''Resource''%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontName%26gt;Skia-Regular%26lt;/stFnt:fontName%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;Skia%26lt;/stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFace%26gt;Regular%26lt;/stFnt:fontFace%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontType%26gt;TrueType%26lt;/stFnt:fontType%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:versionString%26gt;6.0d2e1%26lt;/stFnt:versionString%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:composite%26gt;False%26lt;/stFnt:composite%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;Skia.dfont%26lt;/stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;
    %26lt;/rdf:li%26gt;
    %26lt;rdf:li rdf:parseType=''Resource''%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontName%26gt;TimesNewRomanPSMT%26lt;/stFnt:fontName%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;Times New Roman%26lt;/stFnt:fontFamily%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFace%26gt;Regular%26lt;/stFnt:fontFace%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontType%26gt;Open Type%26lt;/stFnt:fontType%26gt;

    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFace%26gt;57 Condensed%26lt;/stFnt:fontFace%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontType%26gt;Type 1%26lt;/stFnt:fontType%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:versionString%26gt;001.003%26lt;/stFnt:versionString%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:composite%26gt;False%26lt;/stFnt:composite%26gt;
    ?%26lt;stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;UniveCon; Univers Condensed%26lt;/stFnt:fontFileName%26gt;
    %26lt;/rdf:li%26gt;
    ?%26lt;/rdf:Bag%26gt;
    %26lt;/xapTPg:Fonts%26gt;

    These are the fonts I used and the type as shown from the UI font menu.

    Yes. You are correct. I have opened the EPS file in the AI and then resave.

    In my machine, I have OTF and TTF font installed in my windows fonts folder.

    Eventhough the .eps file has TTF font, it (METADATA)shows OTF font after resave the file through AI. If I remove the OTF font from the fonts folder and do the above steps and it correctly shows TTF font.

    I want the font name either OTF or TTF which I have assign in the AI and it should also reflect in the .eps METADATA file information.

    Why are you opening the EPS file and resaving? The information is also available directly from the AI file. It sounds as though the file is replacing the font when it is opened in AI.

    That file created by some machine. Without resaving the file, i could not find out that font information tags(metadata). Please find the attachment for your review.

    The EPS is just a text file readable by AI. Here are the lines which reference the font

    %ADOBeginSubsetFont: Arial Initial
    %ADOt1write: (1.0.21)
    %%Copyright: Copyright 2009 Adobe System Incorporated. All rights reserved.
    13 dict dup begin
    /FontType 1 def
    /FontName /Arial def
    /FontInfo 6 dict dup begin
    /Notice (Typeface \\251 The Monotype Corporation plc. Data \\251 The Monotype Corporation plc/Type Solutions Inc. 1990-1992. All Rights Reserved) def
    /Weight (Medium) def
    /ItalicAngle 0 def

    So it looks to be an older Type 1 font. When I open the file it wants to replace the font.

    Thanks for your response!!

    Thanks! Is it possible to find out the open type font information using the above method. Kindly advice me.
