Please help!!! I need help with a defining a pattern in Illustrator CS2.?I create a repeat print and click on Define Pattern for the repeat to go into the swatch pallette.?This creates my repeated print, however, when I fill a shape with my new pattern swatch, and then go to move the shape which my repeated pattern is in, the pattern stays still and the shape scrolls across it resulting in the pattern not remaining exactly the same within the shape.?I have managed to create it where it does remain the same in the shape when the shape is moved around the page before but not every time.?Is there a check box or menu option I need to select to toggle this feature on/off? Or is this a problem with my illustrator?
Pattern SwatchesIn order to fix a pattern within a shape, you need to select the shape and use Expand from the object menu. Be ready for some unexpected consequences though. Look at the file in outline mode to see what happens.
Pattern SwatchesHow are you moving the object??There should be checkboxes in the move dialog for objects and for patterns. Check the one(s) you wish to move. (You can also move only the pattern by unchecking the object checkbox.)
You can also move the pattern by holding down the ~ key as you click and drag with the selection tool (black arrow)
It's an option in the preferences: ''Transform pattern fills'' or the like - I'm using a German version. Check it.
You star! It has worked. Thanks so much for your time.
