Picture opens too big in Elements

When I click File, Open I used to get a picture about 6x8.?Now when I open a file it takes up the whole screen.?I can hold down the mouse in the lower right corner to make it smaller but then if I click on another open file the one I made smaller gets big again.?The picture is the right size, it's the gray border around the picture that I don't want.?How can I open it without the gray border that makes it so big??Thank you.
