I avoid VCs in LR as not only can you not see them in Br but if catalogue goes squiffy you lose any work since last backup.
But,as I recently discovered if you make a VC and then take a snapshot when you have finished developing it [label it VC or similar] then this snapshot appears in the master file, not just the VC. Very, very useful and am surprised this has not been mentioned before. Thanks to Sean MacCormack's LR blog for the tip.
This means that in Br, in the snapshot tab, you will see the snapshot of the VC version. So it is in fact now saved in the metadata, not just the catalogue, hurrah.
Now if LR could [optionally] always autosave/update the VCs as snapshots [maybe with the VC file name], then that would get around the possibility of losing VCs with catalogue corruption [happened to me once] and also allow Br to see the VCs, without you having to remember to take snapshots all the time. Everyone wins.
A simple?JDI request - I'd have thought as everything is there ready for implementation
[See John Nack's blog for JDI in PS, if you've not heard term before]
