Upgrading old PC based Photoshop and...

I have Photoshop v5.0 and Premier elements v3.0 installed on my PC and just bought a Macbook Pro and would like to have the latest versions of these programs installed on my Mac. What can I do?

Adobe doesn't make Premiere Elements for mac. You can use imovie, which comes with your mac, or invest in final cut express.

There is no organizer in the mac version of elements, so if you use that, you'll have to find another way to organize your photos. Most mac folks use iphoto, but there are plenty of other options. In any case, if your files aren't raw files, use the Write Tags and Properties to file(s) command in organizer before exporting your photos to the mac.

The current version of PSE for mac is PSE 6. You wouldn't qualify for a crossgrade with such an old version of PSE, but if you shop around you should be able to find PSE 6/mac for around $50.

Thank you very much. Will Final Cut Express let me take the stills I edit in

PSE 6 and create DVDs with sound tracks like I can do with Premier Elements?

I really liked the way Premier Elements let's me dub in various sound clips

by small pieces and although I have not tried it yet it appeared to me that

iMovies does not have the same flexibility.

You can also do that with a combination of imovie/idvd or just idvd. FCE is sort of the ''elements'' equivalent of Final Cut Pro, which has become pretty much the industry standard for many uses. It's a very competent program, but with a learning curve.

iMovie does let you do what you want with sound clips. I often use it to join tracks, but you can also use Garage band, which also came with your mac, for this.

Thank you very much.

You might want to look around and ask on apple's discussion site: an earlier version of?imovie (6, I think) which was more like other movie editing software, was available on apple's site as a free download to later version users for quite some time. I don't know if it still is or not, but you might well find that more like what you're used to if you can still get it.
